Tips for Hiking Trails

HIKING TRAILS JESENÍKY

Ramzová – Šerák – Obří skály – Ramzová (moderate difficulty, 12 km)

A fairly demanding hike, which can be shortened by taking the cable car from Ramzová to Šerák (then you walk only about 5–6 km). If you hike on foot, start at the lower station of the cable car and ascend via the red trail, joining the blue trail near the top of Šerák. Refreshments are available at Jiří’s Cottage. After a break, continue along the blue trail to Obří skály for stunning views, then follow the blue and green trails back to Ramzová.

Ramzová – Branná (challenging route, 20 km)

A varied route passing three lookout peaks (Šerák, Keprník, Vozka) and along two mountain streams, Vražedný and Hučava. From the Ramzová cable car junction, follow the green trail along Vražedný stream, then switch to the blue trail to Obří skály and continue to Šerák. After lunch at Jiří’s Cottage, follow the red trail to Keprník, the highest point of the route, then the yellow trail to Trojmezí, and finally the green trail to the next peak, Vozka. From Vozka, continue along the green trail to Branná.

Ramzová – Javorník (challenging route, 30 km)

A pleasant hiking route, long in distance but with elevation gain only in the first 5 km to Smrk peak. Afterward, it’s mostly downhill to the town of Javorník. Start at the Ramzová saddle cottage and follow the red trail to Smrk, near whose summit you’ll find a peat bog. Continue on the yellow trail across Kovadlina peak to the crossroads below Špičák. From there, you can ascend Špičák or continue along the red trail to the spring below Stráž. Follow the red trails all the way to Javorník center. The trail passes clearings, mountain meadows, settlements like Červený důl, and the ruins of Rychleby Castle.

Ostružná is a small mountain village nestled in the picturesque Jeseníky region, offering ideal conditions for active relaxation in every season. During the summer months, the surrounding landscape invites hiking and cycling trips. Marked hiking and cycling trails of varying difficulty start directly from the village, passing through forests and mountain meadows while offering beautiful views of the countryside. Nearby, you can connect to ridge trails leading to Šerák, Keprník, or Ramzová, or explore the lesser-known, tranquil corners of the Rychlebské Mountains. Cyclists will appreciate both easy routes suitable for families and more challenging climbs and off-road sections.

In winter, the area transforms into a hub for winter sports. Ostružná itself has a ski resort with slopes suitable for beginners and advanced skiers alike. Several other ski resorts are located nearby, offering various types of trails, lifts, and evening skiing. Thanks to its elevation and location, the area enjoys good snow conditions throughout most of the winter season. In addition to downhill skiing, there are groomed cross-country ski trails through forests and open landscapes, offering stunning mountain views. Ostružná and its surroundings are thus an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful environment, pristine nature, and ample opportunities for outdoor activities.
